Description

Engineering Operations is a cross-functional role embedded in our Technology organization, supporting Product, Engineering, and Data. This person improves how the department operates and leads internal initiatives that make our teams more effective.

This is a hands-on, non-management role. You'll own the recurring operational work that keeps teams aligned and lead the special projects that level us up over time.

You'll be the person leadership turns to when an idea needs to become reality. Take an ambiguous goal—"our onboarding could be better," "we need a clearer way to assess team health," or "our internal docs are a mess"—and turn it into a structured plan, a working implementation, and an iterative process that sticks. You'll work across disciplines, build the connective tissue between teams, and raise the operational bar for the whole department.

This is not an executive assistant, HR, recruiting, IT, or people-management role. It's a role for someone who thinks in systems, thrives on ownership, and is energized by turning messy problems into repeatable processes—while staying comfortable in the technical environment our Product, Engineering, and Data teams operate in. This role doesn't require hands-on software engineering, but it does require the ability to work effectively with Product, Engineering, and Data teams—understanding technical concepts, navigating dependencies, using data to inform decisions, and building lightweight systems, reporting, and workflow improvements that help the organization operate more effectively.

You'll report into Engineering and Product leadership and partner closely with leaders and individual contributors across the Technology org.

Requirements

  • Own the recurring operational tasks of the Technology org—coordinating cadences, tracking commitments, maintaining tooling and systems, and keeping cross-team workflows running smoothly
  • Lead special projects end-to-end, such as improving engineering and product onboarding, building internal curriculum and learning paths, and standardizing documentation across teams
  • Design and run team health checks—defining what we measure, gathering input, surfacing insights, and helping leaders act on them
  • Take ambiguous ideas and direction from leadership and turn them into structured plans, clear milestones, working implementations, and iterations that improve over time
  • Build, document, and improve internal workflows and processes that span Product, Engineering, and Data
  • Support inputs into review and performance processes—helping structure, collect, and synthesize the information leaders need, without owning HR or people-management decisions
  • Create and maintain documentation, templates, and playbooks so processes are repeatable and don't depend on any single person
  • Partner across Product, Engineering, and Data to identify operational friction, propose solutions, and drive adoption through influence rather than authority
  • Track and report on the progress and impact of operational initiatives, using data to prioritize and measure what's working
  • Coordinate cross-functional initiatives, keeping stakeholders aligned, unblocking work, and ensuring projects land
  • Continuously look for opportunities to make the Technology org more efficient, consistent, and scalable

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

These are non-negotiable. If you don't meet most of these, this likely isn't the right fit.

  • Experience in technology operations, engineering operations, product operations, program/project management, or a tech-facing business operations role
  • A track record of taking ambiguous goals and independently turning them into structured plans and delivered outcomes—you're a self-starter who doesn't wait to be told the next step
  • Strong systems thinking—you see how processes, teams, and tools connect, and you design solutions that hold up over time
  • Demonstrated ownership and execution: you've run projects end-to-end and iterated on them based on feedback and results
  • Ability to influence and drive change across functions without direct authority
  • Strong analytical skills—comfortable using metrics, dashboards, and operational reporting to diagnose problems, evaluate process effectiveness, prioritize, and measure impact
  • Experience partnering with technical teams across Product, Engineering, or Data—quickly getting up to speed on their workflows, tools, and constraints
  • Ability to understand technical concepts, systems, and dependencies well enough to coordinate work, identify risks, and communicate clearly with technical stakeholders—without needing to be the technical implementer
  • Familiarity with the collaboration and workflow tools technical teams rely on—project and issue tracking (e.g., Jira, Linear, Asana), documentation (e.g., Notion, Confluence), and reporting systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to create clear documentation and align diverse stakeholders, in English
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives and keep them moving

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

These will set you apart but aren't required to apply.

  • An engineering or technical background is a plus—e.g., a degree in a technical field, or prior experience in software engineering, data, or another hands-on technical role
  • Basic SQL, scripting, or no-code/low-code automation skills to build lightweight reports and workflow improvements
  • Experience operating within or directly alongside software engineering, product, or data teams
  • Experience designing onboarding programs, internal curriculum, or enablement content for technical teams
  • Experience building or improving team-health, performance-input, or feedback processes
  • Experience designing dashboards or tracking operational KPIs
  • Background in a fast-moving, remote, or distributed organization
  • Familiarity with adtech, mobile marketing, or a related technology space
  • Comfort with AI-assisted, no-code, or workflow-automation tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot) to accelerate operational and documentation work

CULTURE FIT

  • Curious mindset with a drive to ask questions and uncover opportunities
  • Hustle and ownership mentality — you're not afraid to roll up your sleeves
  • Comfort with a Mission Aligned Team framework
  • Bias toward shipping and iterating — pragmatic about tradeoffs between scope and value
  • Energized by collaborating across product, engineering, and data teams
